I have observed that when we become too attached to our sense of self or our ego, we suffer. We see ourselves as separate from the world around us and this perception causes ego suffering.
Our ego is part of our identity and yet it is not something we came into this existence with. We acquired this identity later shaped by our thoughts, beliefs and emotions; many of which were outside our control.
Letting go of this belief and attachment by practicing mindfulness and gratitude will help us overcome ego suffering.
